The Independent Patriot for Change (IPC) has commended President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah for trimming the Cabinet from 21 ministries to 14.

Speaking at the party's 'State of the Nation Address', its leader, Panduleni Itula, said the move will reduce resource wastage and duplication of responsibilities.

Dr. Itula said the trimming of the Cabinet will save funds and improve efficiency.

But he was quick to point out that IPC, as the official opposition party, will closely monitor the situation to ensure that the downsizing comes with tangible results.

"We are watching, we are measuring, and we are ready to step in with solutions whenever you fall short. The challenges Namibia faces—joblessness, poverty, inequality, and corruption—demand urgent, brave action. The time for lofty ideals and vague promises is over; it is now time for hard work and honest leadership."

The IPC says it agrees with President Nandi-Ndaitwah 's zero tolerance for corruption.

"Without proper sentencing of the treasonous acts of corruption, decreeing that corruption is treason is paying lip service for political gain to a serious crime. The IPC calls for evidence of concrete legislative reforms that would reduce the dangers inflicted by corruption upon our people."

The party called for the strengthening of the Anti-Corruption Commission and suggested the need to extend the appointing authority to the official opposition party, saying the current situation, where the appointment of officials of these and other bodies is confined to the Executive, is not healthy for democracy.
