Namibian award-winning artist Ben Kandukira, popularly known as Big Ben, has released a song for child safety awareness in response to the loss of three young girls in Okahandja.

The song titled Stranger Danger was inspired by the recent tragedies that occurred over the last month, sparking shockwaves of outrage across the entire nation.

The musical response is aimed at promoting vigilance and safety for school-going children as well as at commemorating the lives of the innocent souls that were lost.

"In the song, there are tips, like giving tips to the young ones. They love music, and they will sing along, and in singing along, their parents will help them understand what it means. For example, if a stranger is giving you toys or sweets, do not enter their house or car. In the song, I say you run for dear life. Child, you run."

The song speaks about basic morals to be instilled in the minds of children from a young age.

These include not entertaining strangers and not accepting any items offered to lure them, as children can often be gullible.

He urges other musicians to reach out to him to spread the message in their languages to raise awareness in their communities.

"I only did it in English and Otjiherero, which are languages I know, and I can do better. But what if a musician takes the same song and does it in Rukwangali, in Damara, in Deutsch and other languages? This would really be good for every child in Namibia to learn and understand what it's about. That way, we contribute our part."

Big Ben says the song has the power to spark meaningful dialogue among children in classrooms, homes and playgrounds, raising awareness about the dangers in today's society and how to avoid such incidents from reoccurring.
