The Veterans Appeal Board has notified 405 veterans about their successful applications.
This was revealed by President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah when recapping the first 100 days of the 8th administration.
The applications of 405 veterans were previously rejected by the Veterans Board, prompting them to approach the Veterans Appeal Board for review.
President Nandi-Ndaitwah reported on these developments while highlighting programmes instituted to ensure the welfare of the veterans of the liberation struggle.
"218 applicants were vetted during May 2025 and are due to start receiving their Improvement of Welfare Grant (IWG) by the end of this month (July 2025). Under the Individual Veterans' Projects scheme, 62 veterans received their once-off cash grant for the projects in June 2025. Internal verification processes are at an advanced stage to disburse this project's grant to the remaining 315 eligible beneficiaries."
Through the Individual Veterans' Projects programme, beneficiaries are eligible to receive a once-off amount of N$170,000.
This is, however, separate from the lump sum of either N$20,000 or N$50,000 which the veterans are entitled to upon the granting of veteran status.
"The Government undertakes to ensure that payment of the once-off lump sum is effected to all beneficiaries who have been notified during the current financial year."
The newly notified beneficiaries are now also eligible to apply for other benefits under the Ministry of Defence and Veterans Affairs.
