Known as the stubborn dreamer, Miss Namibia, Johanna Swartbooi, hails from the dusty streets of Vaalgras, situated 100 kilometres east of Keetmanshoop.

The NBC News team at Keetmanshoop paid a visit to the tiny village of Vaalgras and spoke to a few residents on the crowning of Swartbooi, a historic moment that will be etched into the legacy of Namibian women.

Swartbooi (26) grew up in Vaalgras, and entering the Miss Namibia Beauty Pageant provided her with the opportunity not only to showcase her unique physical appearance.

The stubborn dreamer's decision to take part in the prestigious event organised annually by the Namibian Broadcasting Corporation just reshaped her dreams.

Residents of Vaalgras who spoke to NBC News say that for Swartbooi to be crowned Miss Namibia demonstrates that nothing is impossible.

An event where Miss Namibia will be welcomed back home is on the cards.
