The Ohangwena Region has recorded 3,768 cases of malaria and 11 deaths since the outbreak last year.
Governor Kadiva Hamutumwa said the region experienced a malaria outbreak at the beginning of 2024, which lasted into this year.
Despite regional efforts to contain malaria, she expressed concern about the continued reporting of cases and deaths.
Treatment, she said, is often sought too late.
The region also reported 742 cases of tuberculosis out of 8,552 presumptive screenings conducted through the Namibia Institute of Pathology.
Of those, 700 were classified as new and relapse cases, raising further concerns over the region's burden of communicable diseases.
"The region also reported 29 drug-resistant TB cases out of 630 genes pertaining to positive TB cases. The PMTCT programme has been implemented very well since its inception to date, and the region has implemented the PMTCT programme in all its 34 clinics and 2 health centres."
