The Oshana Education Directorate has launched and held its first-ever Afrikaans Festival aimed at promoting the language and cultural heritage among the learners.
Hosted by Kleine Kuppe Private School at Ongwediva, the debut event brought together 12 schools offering Afrikaans for them to engage through cultural performances, interactive activities, and various educational presentations.
The festival will also promote arts and culture and foster educational inclusivity and sustainable cultural development, as was evident with the high turnout of participants and spectators.
Oshana Education Directorate Representative Saara Shipefi said the festival lays the groundwork for what organisers hope will become part of the annual calendar.
