Vice President Lucia Witbooi will represent Namibia at the Fourth Intra-African Trade Fair (IATF2025), scheduled to take place from September 4 to 7 in Algiers, Algeria.

According to a statement issued by the Presidency, Witbooi will attend the trade fair on behalf of President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah, following an invitation extended by Algerian President Abdelmajid Tebboune.

The IATF2025, organised by the African Export-Import Bank (Afreximbank) in collaboration with the African Union (AU) Commission and the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) Secretariat, will be held under the theme “A Gateway to New Opportunities”.

Heads of State and Government, ministers, senior officials, business leaders, traders, investors, and small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) from across the continent and beyond are expected to participate in the high-level gathering.

The trade fair aims to boost intra-African trade by fostering industrialisation, promoting value addition, creating jobs, and strengthening competitiveness in global markets. It will also serve as a platform for businesses to tap into the integrated African market of over 1.4 billion people, with a combined GDP of US$3.5 trillion under the AfCFTA framework.

“The event provides Namibia with an opportunity to establish partnerships with other African countries to enhance economic activities across the continent and beyond,” the statement added.

Witbooi will depart for Algiers on Monday and return on 08 September 2025.
