The Kavango West Regional Council has dispatched a team to visit all council-funded projects across the region to assess their progress.

As the tour kicked off, some projects showed promising progress, with others requiring intervention from regional authorities.

Sites visited include boreholes, debushed roads, gardening and a mahangu threshing project.

Members of the threshing project at Gcagcawe village raised concerns over the high transport costs of N$600 per trip to move their machines for tenders.

They say the cost is high and are calling on the constituency office to provide a donkey cart as a more sustainable transport option.

They, however, appreciate the threshing machine, which they say has improved their livelihoods. The project is owned by six community members.

At Etenderera village, Tangeni Onesmus said they took part in a cash-for-work road de-bushing project, but he is unhappy with how they were paid.

Several water point projects were visited across the constituency, but concerns remain.

Residents say weak solar systems and faulty pumps are causing low water pressure, forcing people and livestock to wait for hours.

While some tanks have been installed, many still walk long distances to access water.

Despite this, a few development projects, like community gardens, are showing real progress.
