The Kavango West Regional Council has concluded assessments of the first phase of the VAT-funded and capital projects.

The projects were funded during the 2023/2024 and 2024/2025 financial years.

Chief Statistician in the Kavango West Regional Council, Milka Nzamene, said, "We are also going to visit the projects which were constructed by August 26, yes, for holdings, CC schools, whether it's classrooms or ablution blocks. This is also just to gather information and write a report at the end of this visit, to advise the Council on a way forward and on how they are going to improve implementations of projects, as well as capital projects in the region."

Nzamene said that the inclusion of Control Administrative Officers from all eight constituencies also helped them benchmark.

"This activity is for them to actually benchmark from each other. We want them to learn from the other constituencies on how they are implementing these projects and learn ways that they are actually tackling the issues that they are facing. Also for them to learn from each other."

A teacher at Naingopo Primary School, Roide Nangombe, expressed satisfaction with the two-classroom blocks built by August 26 Holdings CC.

However, she said the school still needs at least one more classroom and toilets for both teachers and learners.

"We once had only one classroom, which is there, which was built with play blocks. For the past years, that classroom was a four-in-one. It was an office, a storeroom, a classroom, and again, it was a staff room. Now that we have this newly constructed classroom, at least our classrooms are all almost enough. The learners, the staff members and the community at large for Naingopo are very happy having the classroom built."

The second phase of these visits is expected to start from the 22nd to the 29th of this month.
