A man believed to be between 20 and 30 years old died instantly after being hit by a vehicle on the B1 highway, at the bridge from Hakahana Service Station to China Town, in the early hours of Tuesday.

According to Constable Philip Angala of the Windhoek City Police, the victim was attempting to cross the road when an oncoming car struck him.

Police investigations are underway to determine the exact circumstances surrounding the accident.

Angala has cautioned both motorists and pedestrians to exercise care and take precautions on the roads.

The identity of the deceased has not yet been released, pending notification of his next of kin.

According to the MVA Fund, three passengers in the car suffered injuries.
