Namibia will make its second shipment to Kenya on Monday through the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCTA).

The second consignment will come from MeatCo.

Speaking at the 12th Ministerial Business Engagement Series held at Oshakati, NIPDB's Stakeholders Relation Manager, Rino Muranda, stated that the new developments are a testimony of the opportunities that exist in the arrangement.

The event was hosted by the Ministries of International Relations and Trade and Industries, Mines, and Energy.

"The Ministry of International Relations and Trade is responsible for three things. One is international relations, connecting Namibia to the outside world; secondly, international trade, making sure that we ensure that our products and services have market access, so what we do is to make sure that your products and services can be sold beyond Namibia," said Muranda.

Some of the requirements to register with AfCFTA are a brief company profile, an export permit, proof of identification and a certificate of good standing with NamRA.

AfCFTA objectives are to create a single market for goods and services to deepen the economic integration of the African continent, and to promote industrial development while creating a liberalised market for goods and services.

The AfCFTA framework aims to raise awareness and support the effective implementation of AfCFTA countrywide.
