A group of young job seekers from Otjiwarongo who applied for the ECN training have been queuing outside the centre since Friday, hoping to be called in.

Ahead of the Regional Councils and Local Authorities elections, ECN is conducting a training programme for regional electoral officers, supervisors, and technology specialists.

The group queuing outside the training centre in Ombili alleges that some of the selected participants are already employed, despite ECN's saying the programme is for the unemployed.

One of the trainers allegedly gave hope to some applicants but later apologised, explaining that there was no room to accommodate everyone.

ECN Communications Manager De Wet Siluka clarified that recruitment is done centrally at the head office and not at training centres, and anyone concerned about the process should report to the head office.

Unemployment remains a source of frustration among young Namibians, as limited access to opportunities often leads to disappointment and tension.
