Vice President Lucia Witbooi has expressed appreciation to the Namibian Broadcasting Corporation (NBC) for producing a documentary that captured her journey from a seasoned educator to the office of the Vice President.

The documentary titled Lucia Witbooi: A Life of Service premiered on her birthday, 21 March, coinciding with the nation's Independence Day celebrations.

The Vice President's family members, including her children, grandchildren, extended family and close friends, attended the premiere at the Karasburg Business Park.

"Thank you, NBC, and to my President, Dr. Netumbo-Nandi-Ndaitwah, who gave me this opportunity to serve the nation from the second office of the government, although we all fall under the first office. I will do my best. And on that note, happy Independence Day. Thank you; I sincerely appreciate it."

She further reflected on her early days in Parliament, emphasising that her rise to Vice President was not by chance but as a result of years of hard work, dedication, loyalty, and commitment.

The NBC News team spoke to the senior producer behind the documentary, Johannes Sheyavali, who said that the public broadcaster has a tradition of profiling executive leaders as part of its role in informing the nation, which helps to highlight their contributions and influence in various sectors.
