The UNAM Steenbokkies, reigning champions of the 2025 Rugby Premier League, are preparing for their title defence with training sessions at the UNAM Stadium ahead of the new season.

Team Manager Valerie Basson says the squad understands the pressure that comes with being champions and remains focused on improvement.

"As defending champions, we know every team will challenge us this season, so the focus is to stay disciplined. We have worked on improving our defence and attack, and the players are ready for the season," Basson stated.

Team captain Elzane-Lee Basson described the atmosphere in camp as positive, adding that the players are focused on retaining the title.

"The mood in camp is positive, and everyone is preparing for the new season. The new players have settled in, and our goal is to compete and retain the title," she said.

The Steenbokkies will begin their title defence with an away match against Grootfontein.
