Member of Parliament, James Uerikua has died.

Uerikua died this afternoon in a car accident on the road between Otjiwarongo and Okakarara.

Police confirmed the death of the former governor of Otjozomdjupa Uerikua.

It is reported that there were seven occupants in the vehicle, which also claimed the life of his 14-year-old son, Venturo.

The family was said to be on the way to the farm at Okamatapati in the Okakarara Constituency.

Otjozondjupa Police Commander, Philip Hidengwa said Uerikua lost control of the vehicle after a tyre burst.

Commissioner Hidengwa however said the Police are still investigating the accident.
