Prime Minister Elijah Ngurare has directed that the hostel at Pendukeni Iivula-Ithana High School be fully operational within a month.

The Prime Minister stated that the government invested N$44 million in the construction of the hostel, emphasising that this investment should not be squandered.

The prime minister paid a visit to the school to speak to the management and board on the issues stalling the occupation of the hostel, which was completed in 2022.

The school is situated in the Etayi Circuit of the Omusati Region, and its official registration has been delayed.

Dr. Ngurare ordered that the hostel be fully utilised by the end of May, with set implementation timelines.

"We must implement without any excuses. There is no reason to wait, and if other schools are facing similar challenges, they will receive the same message. If the government has invested resources in your school to ensure its success, let them be utilised. Why are we wasting resources?"

Currently, 45 learners are housed in makeshift structures of zinc constructed by parents.

Dr. Ngurare has thus engaged with the Minister of Education on the matter, together with the issue of a fully-fledged computer lab that is not being utilised.

He said the investment should place humanity at the centre, above anything else.
