Kavango West schools are celebrating excellence and progress following the region's annual prize-giving ceremony.
The education directorate of the Kavango West Region continues to inspire both teachers and learners through its annual prize-giving ceremony.
This year's event took place at Simanya Combined School, which ranked last in the 2024 Ordinary Level results, but it has made a remarkable improvement, rising from the bottom to the top in 2025.
Education Director Pontianus Musore applauded teachers and learners for their efforts, saying their commitment has helped position the region more competitively in education.
Musore also announced that Simanya Combined School will be among the schools offering AS levels starting in 2027.
"And in terms of our expansion next year, we are going to include SIMON, yeah, as one of those schools going to offer it because we have no doubt that you can do it. You have proven you have done it at the ordinary level. Results. Your commitment and consistency are the driving force behind these achievements," said Musore.
The Chairperson of the Kavango West Regional Council, Fillipus Tenga, said excellence comes with effort.
"You have proven that dedication in the classroom translates directly into success for our learners. At the same time, we must be honest with ourselves. While we celebrate, we must also confront the gaps."
Among the awardees, teachers and learners also expressed words of encouragement and positivity towards the future.
The event was attended by different stakeholders, including some regional political representatives, and it aims to motivate teachers and learners while improving academic performance in the region.
