The Standard Bank Top 8 Cup quarterfinals took place in Swakopmund, where league champions African Stars were knocked out by Eleven Arrows in a penalty shootout at Vineta Stadium.
The opening quarterfinal match between African Stars and Eleven Arrows ended without a goal in regular time.
Both teams created chances but did not score in the first half, with play focused in midfield and defence.
In the second half, African Stars moved forward in search of a goal, but Eleven Arrows defended and limited scoring chances.
The match ended goalless, and according to the competition rules, proceeded directly to a penalty shootout.
Eleven Arrows won 4-3 on penalties.
Goalkeeper Andreas Hamutenga scored the winning penalty to confirm the result and eliminate African Stars from the competition.
In the second quarterfinal, FC Ongos defeated KK Palace 1-0 to secure a place in the semifinals.
Simon Elago scored for Ongos in the 10th minute.
KK Palace created chances, especially in the second half, but did not score, and Ongos maintained their lead until the end of the match.
Eleven Arrows and FC Ongos advance to the semifinals of the competition.
Both coaches said they were satisfied with their teams' performances and will prepare for the next stage.
