The 30-kilometre stretch in the Ohangwena region is being rehabilitated at a cost of N$365 million.

Years of deterioration had left the road with extensive cracks, base failures and potholes that caused inconvenience and vehicle damage for frequent users.

The project, supervised by Element Consulting Engineers, will run for 24 months with completion scheduled for April 2028.

Unik Construction, appointed in December 2025, is carrying out the works. The contractor has completed bypasses to divert traffic, is conducting continuous pothole repairs on the existing road, and has commenced ripping and rehabilitation of the critical road section. Site establishment is 100%, and the contractor is on site during the rehabilitation.

The Roads Authority’s corporate communications manager, Hileni Fillemon, said construction activities are progressing well. She thanked communities for their cooperation and appealed to road users to adhere to temporary signage so the contractor can finish the work within the specified period.

The Ondobe–Eenhana road is a key economic link for communities and businesses in the Ohangwena region and leads to the regional capital, Eenhana.

The Roads Authority urged motorists and pedestrians to obey temporary signage, reduce speed in construction zones, and exercise caution while the road is under construction.

The project will create 80 temporary jobs.
