What looked like a straightforward path to back-to-back titles for league leaders Mighty Gunners Ladies turned into a dramatic final chapter of the FNB Women’s Super League season, as FC Ongos Ladies seized the championship on the final day.

FC Ongos Ladies entered their final fixture at the Julinho Athletic Stadium knowing only a victory against Julinho Athletic, combined with a slip-up from the league leaders elsewhere, would be enough to secure the crown.

FC Ongos took control of their own destiny early, producing a dominant first-half display that left no room for error. The breakthrough came in the 21st minute when Memory Ngonda opened the scoring. The momentum continued to build as Boitumelo Gammu doubled the advantage in the 34th minute. Just six minutes later, Ivonne Kooper struck a third, handing FC Ongos a commanding 3-0 lead heading into the halftime interval.

The eventual champions maintained their composure and defensive discipline throughout the second half, comfortably seeing out the remainder of the match to secure a clean sheet.

Despite their flawless performance on the pitch, FC Ongo's title hopes still hung in the balance as they awaited the final whistle of the concurrent match between Mighty Gunners Ladies and Windhoek City.

Mighty Gunners started the day sitting at the top of the standings and needed a victory to successfully retain their league title. However, a resilient Windhoek City squad frustrated the reigning champions, holding them to a 0-0 stalemate.

The goalless draw proved fatal to Mighty Gunner's campaign, allowing FC Ongos Ladies to leapfrog them in the standings at the final hurdle. The result officially confirms FC Ongos Ladies as the champions of the FNB Women’s Super League.

While dreams of consecutive titles slipped away for the Mighty Gunners in the final stretch, FC Ongos' unwavering belief translated into brilliance when it mattered most, reminding the nation why they remain one of the defining forces in Namibian women’s football.
