AR Leader Job Amupanda says that State-Owned Enterprises (SOEs) should be required to disclose salary scales in vacancy advertisements, similar to government institutions, to promote transparency.

Responding to Professor Amupanda, Justice and Labour Relations Minister Wise Immanuel stated that the public must be aware of the operational independence of SOE's.

"In a broader scope, to say yes, we acknowledge that there is a problem with the remuneration governance in this country. But I have also come on record, unequivocally, that as we pursue that particular direction, we must be cognisant, you know, of operational independence of institutions; you know, ours is a mixed economy. That at the moment, both the public sectors as well as the SOEs would tell you issues of operational independence as well as market competitiveness and why they would probably be hesitant to disclose their remuneration structure. But from the government side, where we have an oversight over the public enterprises, we are then trying to address it very deliberately and intentionally."
