The family of a late former commissioner of refugees in the Home Affairs Ministry has donated clothing items to 215 pre-school learners at the Osire Refugee Camp in the Otjozondjupa region.
The family donated the items as part of the legacy of the late Nkrumah Mushelenga, a veteran who died in 2022.
Since the death of Commissioner Nkrumah Mushelenga at the end of July 2022, the family has continued to honour his humanitarian legacy by giving back to vulnerable communities.
This year, children at Osire's NPA Lights Kindergarten received shoes and clothes, among many other items.
Home Affairs, Immigration, Safety and Security Deputy Director for the Reception Area and Settlement Centre, Simon Iilonga, said the donation is a welcome relief as refugees at the settlement are in need of humanitarian aid.
NPA lights kindergarten teacher Majaliwa Kasaro and some parents expressed gratitude for the donation.
