The 18th Okakarara Annual Trade Fair Gala Dinner paid tribute to the late Otjozondjupa Governor, James Uerikua, celebrating his legacy of service while reaffirming the role of the trade fair in driving economic growth and entrepreneurship.

Held under the theme "Legacy, Unity & Economic Empowerment in Honour of the Late Hon. James U. Uerikua", the gala dinner served as the official fundraising and networking platform for this year's trade fair.

The event brought together government leaders, members of the diplomatic corps, business executives, development partners, sponsors, traditional leaders and the local business community to honour Uerikua's contribution to the region and discuss opportunities for investment and economic development.

Delivering a speech on behalf of Prime Minister Elijah Ngurare, Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries, Water and Land Reform Inge Zaamwani said it was fitting to honour the late Uerikua through an event that promotes investment, entrepreneurship and economic opportunities.

" Tonight we are reminded that true leadership is measured not only by the officers one held by their lives one transform, honorable James Uerikua devoted his life to serving the people of Namibia with distinction his unwavering commitment to agriculture rural development, community empowerment, and nation building  left an edible mark on Otjozondjupa region in our country is a whole."

Zaamwani said the objectives of the Okakarara Annual Trade Fair extend beyond showcasing products and services, noting that the event creates opportunities for businesses, connects markets, encourages innovation, promotes entrepreneurship and attracts investment.

She added that the trade fair plays a vital role in empowering ordinary Namibians to participate meaningfully in the country's economy, while contributing to sustainable economic growth and job creation.

Okakarara Constituency Councillor Uzeraije Tjaverua said the town is ready to host a vibrant and impactful trade fair, adding that visitors can expect a wide range of exhibitions, business networking opportunities, cultural displays, and entertainment activities.

"Okakarara Annual Trade Fair is a powerful live event where businesses showcase new products, meet industry and buyers, and build face-to-face connections that drive economic growth and market trends."

He said the trade fair continues to grow as a key platform for local entrepreneurs and emerging businesses to showcase their products, while also attracting investors interested in exploring opportunities within the constituency and beyond.

The 18th Okakarara Annual Trade Fair is expected to attract exhibitors and visitors from across Namibia, providing a platform for businesses to network, market their products and explore new investment opportunities.

N$448,000 was raised during the gala dinner, while pledges were also made in kind towards the Okakarara Annual Trade Fair, which will be held from the 31st of August until the 6th of September, 2026.
