The Evangelical Lutheran Church in Namibia's retired Bishop Kleopas Dumeni has paid tribute to the late Lamech Mwanyangapo, describing him as a central figure in information dissemination, both pre- and post-independence.

Speaking from his home in Ongwediva, the 95-year-old clergyman said the late Mwanyangapo, a former NBC employee, played a crucial role during the liberation struggle by sending information on events from within and outside the country's borders, a job Dumeni said was carried out efficiently and effectively.

He added that Mwanyangapo's dedication to the NBC and to the nation helped build public understanding and unity.

Bishop Dumeni extended condolences to the Mwanyangapo family, the NBC and the media fraternity.
