The Windhoek Golf Club Championships 2026 were held over the weekend at the Windhoek Country Club, with golfers competing over two rounds and 36 holes.
The championships attracted golfers competing across various divisions, with the tournament also counting towards the NAGU standings.
Likius Nande produced the best score of the weekend.
He carded a five-under-par 67 in the opening round before following it up with a four-under-par 68 in the final round.
Nande finished nine-under-par overall and claimed the championship by seven shots.
As part of the prize, winners received prepaid membership for the 2027 season, valued at approximately 17-thousand Namibian dollars.
In the ladies' division, Sesilia Nkoshi claimed the top spot after carding matching rounds of 83, placing her 22-over-par for the tournament.
"As a lady, I'm very proud of myself and I'm very happy with the result. I worked hard leading up to this tournament, so to see that hard work paying off makes the victory even more special”
John Chadyiwa took the honours in the B Division after recording rounds of 83 and 79.
"I'm just glad I came to play and enjoyed every minute of it. For me, that was the most important thing - to come out here, compete and enjoy the game. I tried not to put too much pressure on myself and just focused on playing one hole at a time. The second round was better for me, and I was happy with the way I finished."
The organisers were pleased with the turnout, saying the participation showed interest in the sport.
NAGU committee member Mohale Sponks says planning went into preparing for the championships.
"As organisers, we are very proud of the turnout we had for this year's Windhoek Golf Club Championships. A lot of planning and preparation went into making sure that everything was in place for the golfers. It is always encouraging when you put in the work behind the scenes and then you see golfers coming out and participating in good numbers. We wanted to create an event where golfers could compete, enjoy themselves and also earn important points towards the NAGU standings."
With the championships counting towards the NAGU standings, the weekend provided golfers with an opportunity to compete for titles and collect points.
