UNICEF is exploring a partnership with the Namibian Broadcasting Corporation (NBC) to strengthen public awareness on child rights, disability, gender-based violence and other issues affecting children.

Others refer to them as our everyday heroes. 

They make sure we have food, despite extreme weather conditions. Their work is physically demanding and financially taxing. 

A Nama Evangelist, Paul Plaatjies, was executed by the German authorities in Koës in 1905 after being accused of spying.

His descendant Dawid Plaaitjies recounted his story and called for his legacy to be recognised.
Plaatjies devoted his life to Christianity and spread the word across.

The 16-year-old Cornelius Shimwaafeni from Omutundungu Village in Oshana, who saved nine-month-old twins from drowning, will also be conferred a national hero status by President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah tomorrow at the commemoration of Heroes Day.
