The directorate of education in |Khomas Region has commenced the school placement process for 2027.
Regional Director Paulus Nghikembua says parents seeking school placement for pre-primary, grade one and eight for next year have up to 1st July 2026 to do so.
The Swakopmund Circuit Inspector, Chris Eixab, says although most learners have been placed in schools, placement challenges persist in Grades 1 and 8 due to the growing number of families relocating to the coastal town.
The Otjozondjupa Regional Education Directorate has confirmed the placement of all 921 learners, who were without school at the beginning of the academic year.
Grades 1, 8, and 10 were the most affected.
Close to 300 Grade One learners are still looking for school placement in Windhoek.
This was revealed by the Khomas Regional Director of Education, Paulus Nghikembua, during an interview with the nbc News.
More than 1,000 learners in the Rundu circuit who did not get placement still have to wait another week for tents that will serve as classrooms to arrive.
