Two weeks into the 2026 school calendar, school placement remains a challenge for many parents across the country, with thousands of learners still without confirmed spaces. 

Close to 1300 learners still need to find placement in the Kavango East Region.

Despite this, the acting education director, Christine Silima, is adamant that they will be accommodated when schools reopen next week.

The search for pre-primary placements in Windhoek is becoming more intense, as schools have only a limited number of spaces available for new enrollments.

Since the start of this month, parents have been camping overnight at schools to secure a spot for their children.
