The Ministry of Health and Social Services has denied allegations of negligence related to the death of a two-month-old baby from Gainachas village in the ||Kharas Region.

Keetmanshoop residents referred for specialist treatment to Windhoek Hospital have expressed frustration over prolonged transport delays. 

In a social media post that went viral on Monday, the residents decried the prolonged wait for transport, saying they have had enough with delays. 

The health sector in the ||Kharas Region is facing severe workforce shortages, limited mental health services, and disparities in access to health services between urban and rural communities. 

This is despite substantial investments in infrastructure and equipment.

||Kharas Governor Dawid Gertze highlighted the need to fully harness the region's natural resources to drive Namibia's industrialisation agenda. 

The Keetmanshoop Municipality has accumulated losses totalling N$77 million over the past three years, while its liabilities exceed its assets by N$199,831.

These damning findings were revealed in the audit reports for the financial years that ended June 2020 and 2021.

He officially took over from former governor Aletha Frederick at a leadership transfer ceremony held at Keetmanshoop.
