Members of Parliament have commended the Minister of Finance and Public Enterprises, Iipumbu Shiimi, for his efforts in presenting a substantial increment in this year's national budget. 

Swapo Chief Whip in the National Assembly, Hamunyera Hambyuka, moved a motion without notice urging for consideration and approval of Gerson Tjihenuna and Pius Iikwambi as members of the Electoral Commission of Namibia, nominated by the President under Section 6 of the Electoral Act for a five-year term. 

Members of Parliament in the National Assembly have called on the government to allocate ample resources to the education sector to foster excellence on par with private schools.

Members in this regard also expressed concern about the revised curriculum, noting its failure to accommodate everyone.

Popular Democratic Movement's Member of Parliament, Reggie Diergaardt, brought attention to critical patients allegedly being turned away from St. Mary's Hospital in Rehoboth's Casualty Unit, raising concerns about fatalities among those awaiting treatment. 

The administrative sector will receive 7.8% of the national budget and an amount of N$6.8 billion in the fiscal year 2024–25 to support effective governance and the efficient administration of public services.

The Ministry of Urban and Rural Development's budget has increased by 37.2% to N$2.6 billion.

The Minister of Finance and Public Enterprises, Iipumbu Shiimi, says the government has taken steps to boost the development budget significantly to enhance infrastructure and stimulate growth in the country. 

The Minister of Finance and Public Enterprises, Ipumbu Shiimi, will table the budget for the upcoming fiscal year 2024-2025 in the National Assembly tomorrow at 14:30.

The national budget encompasses government revenue, expenditure, and borrowing strategies, as well as pivotal policy priorities.

Prime Minister Saara Kuugongelwa-Amadhila, in a moving address at Statehouse, paid tribute to the late President Geingob. 

Describing him as a compassionate leader who was dedicated to serving and uplifting others and an administrator, the public servants who diligently served the nation. 

The Hermann Gmeiner Primary School learners hosted a memorial service to pay homage to the lasting impact of the late President.

They extended their gratitude to his unwavering commitment to making education accessible to all.

Swapo Party MP Olivia Hanghuwo tabled a report in the National Council on the high failure rate of learners allegedly because of the revised curriculum.
