President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah has urged Namibians to exercise care on the national roads during the festive season to curb the rising road fatalities.

New streetlights were installed along the trunk road at Ndiyona Settlement in the Kavango East Region. 

The project, which took three months to complete, was funded by the Kavango East Regional Council at a cost of more than N$1.1 million. 

Santam and the City of Windhoek have joined hands to enhance public safety through the launch of a billboard to raise fire and flood risk awareness in the capital.

The billboard contains flood warning signs to help save lives as well as reduce the risk of injury and property damage.

The Inspector General of the Namibian Police, Lieutenant General Joseph Shikongo, confirmed that discussions are underway regarding the legal process of expunction, which involves sealing or destroying criminal records to enhance individuals’ chances of gaining employment.

Residents of Keetmanshoop have urged the government to step up action against the growing crisis of gender-based violence (GBV). 

Law enforcement officials carried out a patrol in Windhoek on Friday night.

A group of residents marched to the Karibib Magistrate's court to hand over a petition.

They stressed that Karibib is a fast-developing town and has become a target for criminals.
