Public service leaders have converged in the Erongo Region to tackle Africa's growing water and sanitation challenges as government officials and experts meet to explore innovative solutions aimed at strengthening public institutions and accelerating universal access to water and safe sanitation across the continent

Japan's ambassador to Namibia, Shinichi Asazuma, says he is pleased with the progress of the water, sanitation, and hygiene interventions and healthcare capacity projects at Khorixas.

The Ministry of Health and Social Services has announced 32 confirmed cholera cases in the Grootfontein District as of 12 January. Of 99 suspected cases, 32 were confirmed, with zero deaths recorded.

Otjozondjupa Health Director Gerbhado Timotheus has expressed concern over the increase in cholera cases at Grootfontein, with 22 positive cases confirmed.

The 22 cases stem from 83 samples tested, with 40 testing negative and the rest remaining pending.

Cabinet has decided that Namibia should allocate five percent of the national budget to water and sanitation programmes.

This aligns with the sustainable development goal of access to water and sanitation.
