Namibia has been recognised for its leadership in advancing the Women, Peace and Security (WPS) agenda at the United Nations in New York, marking 25 years since the adoption of UN Security Council Resolution 1325. 

The 25th anniversary commemoration of the UN Security Council Resolution 1325, held in Windhoek, reaffirms Namibia's continued leadership in promoting women's participation in peace and security.

Namibia is preparing to review its first Women, Peace and Security National Action Plan to develop a stronger second one.

SADC has dismissed claims that its forces in the Democratic Republic of Congo are engaged in joint military operations alongside that country's armed forces, the Democratic Forces for the Liberation of Rwanda, and the Wazalendo militia in Goma against the M23 rebel group.

The Cabinet endorsed a decision that the government consider hosting an event to signify Namibia's firm commitment to the future of the Women, Peace, and Security Agenda.

The event is expected to feature international and national stakeholders.
