Namibian cultures should unite rather than divide the country.

That was the key message of the ||Kharas Governor Dawid Gertze, urging students of the University of Namibia Southern Campus during the official opening of their annual cultural festival in Keetmanshoop.

Members of 34 Damara sub-clans from across Namibia came together in Windhoek for the 2026 ǂNīsa Damaradi ǂGaeǀhaos, celebrating Damara heritage, traditional attire, music and cultural unity.

Prime Minister Elijah Ngurare said there is a new wind of hope in the Zambezi Region as all traditional leaders gathered at Sangwali to celebrate the Batsara cultural festival.
