First National Bank (FNB) Namibia has handed over a N$250,000 sponsorship to the Editors' Forum of Namibia in support of press freedom.

The money will be used for journalism awards.

The Editors' Forum of Namibia Journalism Awards aim to celebrate excellence in investigative reporting.

The newly appointed director general of the Namibian Broadcasting Corporation (NBC), Menesia Muinjo, has stressed the importance of teamwork in driving the corporation's revenue growth. 

She, amongst others, pledged a strong focus on investment in digital platforms, particularly social media.

From overcoming colonial rule to achieving self-determination, central to this progress has been a free press, which plays a role in holding power to account.

The Namibian Broadcasting Corporation (NBC) says initiatives such as the Mukorob project are critical to strengthening the country's film and television industry.

They also provide a platform for authentic Namibian storytelling.

In its quest to engage content stakeholders, the Namibian Broadcasting Corporation's (NBC) leadership is in the Omaheke Region and met with the regional council leadership.

Various issues relating to the broadcaster’s operations, including both television and radio coverage, were discussed.
