The Speaker of the National Assembly, Saara Kuugongelwa-Amadhila, says current parliamentary procedures require review and amendment to improve efficiency, while a lack of consensus among Members of Parliament contributed to delays in concluding some legislative matters during the Third Session.

The National Assembly is scheduled to reconvene tomorrow.

The National Assembly adjourned on the 30th of April and went on a month-long recess.  During the recess period, MPs carried out oversight visits and other constituency-related responsibilities throughout the country.

NATIONAL COUNCIL ACCUSES ASSEMBLY OF DELAYING LAWS

Members of the National Council have accused the National Assembly of using delaying tactics in passing laws aimed at benefiting the public.

This was during the discussions on the budget allocation towards the National Assembly, with an amount of N$416.5 million.
