Regional experts warn that Namibia's outdated laws and weak penalties are making it harder to deter offenders in the fight against illegal fishing in the ocean.

The Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, Water and Land Reform (MAFWLR) has received a fleet of vehicles under the Livestock Support Programme to strengthen veterinary services in the Northern Communal Areas.

A farmer from Kongola, Glenn Shebo, is concerned that unserviced tractors will delay their cultivation process this season.

Shebo blamed the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, Water and Land Reform for allegedly sending them dysfunctional tractors after they paid for the service.

The Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, Water and Land Reform is hosting the Strategy for the Transformation of the Agri-food Sector (STAS) workshop.

The workshop aims to kick-start the implementation of the strategy and discuss financing modalities as well as monitoring and evaluation.
