Members of Parliament workshopped on the 2024–25 National Budget to enhance their capacity and ability to analyse it and make well-informed contributions.

In a speech delivered on his behalf, Speaker Peter Katjavivi emphasised that the workshop was in alignment with the theme "Year of Expectations."

The workshop was addressed by partners such as Standard Bank, which recommitted itself to contributing to the nation's road to prosperity and ensuring access to quality education, health, nutrition, and opportunities for all citizens.

UNICEF's Deputy Representative, Toshiko Takahashi, commended the government for allocating over N$44 billion to the social sector.

She emphasised the role of MPs in monitoring budget implementation, equitable spending, and the effective execution of tasks as desired.

Takahashi expressed hope that the workshop enhanced the understanding of MPs to effectively debate the votes, emphasising UNICEF's commitment to upholding Dr. Geingob's legacy of caring for Namibian children.

The workshop was aimed at providing MPs with insights into the 2024–25 national budget's impact on national development plans, the social sector, women, and the youth.
