NUDO President Utjiua Muinjangue says she will not endorse a presidential candidate as she steps down.

Dr. Muinjangue said this during a media briefing on the party's 4th National Council meeting resolutions held in Windhoek.

"It's no longer a secret. I have indicated that, come our elective congress, I will step down. I will not stand for election for president. I was elected president of NUDO in 2020 for 5 years. Any term is five years. I am not greedy, and I am not ego-centred enough to want to remain in positions forever. So that is the reason: to give others a chance to come and lead the party. I will remain a committed member of the NUDO party. I am sure that the SG will be able to inform the media on what the process is because the constitution is very clear on how people should indicate that they want to run for whatever positions, and they are not endorsed by the president, so I have nothing to do with any endorsements."

She also called for unity among the party members ahead of the national elections.

"We have the elections in November this year, and that demands that we, as NUDO, go to the elections as a united force, enhancing the spirit of comradeship and oneness. I am fully aware of the challenges that we are facing as a party, and I am fully aware of external forces that are also working very hard to destabilise the party."
