Namport and Belgium's Port Authority of Antwerp, Bruges International, hosted a sundowner dinner in honour of the visiting King of the Belgians and President Nangolo Mbumba.

The engagement is part of the schedule of the visiting King Philippe, who is in Namibia on a five-day state visit.

Before the start of the dinner, the Belgian royalty was treated to exceptional Namibian hospitality with a sumptuous sundowner cocktail with all the bells and whistles befitting royalty.

And the weather was a perfect companion.

The sundowner was a telling sign of what was to follow: a tented dinner in the middle of the desert, with the hosts, Namport and Antwerp Bruges International, having pulled out all stops.

Last June, the two port authorities signed a memorandum of understanding to allow for a broad scope of collaboration in the long term.

The MoU is particularly relevant in the exploitation of Namibia's green hydrogen potential.

The Chairperson of Namport's Board of Directors, Nangula Hamunyela, reminded the two port authorities that there is work to be done.

The Chief Executive Officer of the Port Authority of Antwerp Bruges International, Jacques Vandermieren, was poetic in describing the beauty of Namibia while noting that a future of cooperation lies ahead.

The evening concluded with a marimba band performance, tuned to fit the latest trends in music.
