Vice President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah has commended the NovaNam fishing company at Luderitz for adding value to local produce. 

She made the observation after a tour of the fish factory as part of her working visit to ||Kharas Region. 

The Vice President was accompanied by the Minister of Justice, Yvonne Dausab, the Deputy Minister of Finance and Public Enterprises, Maureen Hinda-Mbuende, and ||Kharas Governor Aletha Frederick. 

"They are very cost-effective in the sense that the whole fish is used up and nothing is wasted, so at the end, the whole fish value is added, and you really see the professionalism that is demonstrated by the workers at every station where they are; each one knows exactly what they are doing. The other thing is the hygiene and cleanliness you see on the whole, and that's really my impression, and I would like to see that all companies operating in Namibia ensure that there is such an atmosphere of ownership as far as the workers are concerned," Nandi-Ndaitwah said.

The Vice President was also pleased with the conducive working environment in which the workers were performing their tasks. 

NovaNam management, as part of the company's culture afforded high-profile visitors, asked Nandi-Ndaitwah to plant a tree on the premises. 

Dr. Nandi-Ndaitwah also visited the Kelp Blue factory at Luderitz. 

Founded in 2020, Kelp Blue specialises in cultivating giant kelp off the Luderitz coast. 

The Vice President was impressed by the skills transferred to the young Namibians at Kelp Blue. 

"Really, this is the Namibia we want to see, where our young people know exactly what they are doing and what they want to do because this is the only way to be able to address the challenges we are facing of unemployment and poverty."
