It's history in the making for Namibian cycling. The Mega Build Women's Tour de Windhoek, sanctioned by the Union Cycliste Internationale is taking place right here in the capital for the very first time.
The event kicks off on the 1st of August, and runs until Monday the 4th, with riders from across Africa competing for glory.
The four-day stage race will see top female cyclists from countries like Kenya and South Africa join Namibia's best on the streets of Windhoek. Organizers say this is more than just a race it's a chance to grow women's cycling in the region and put Namibia on the international cycling map.
For the riders, the excitement is palpable. Many say they've been training for months, and are eager to test themselves against some of the continent's finest.
The race will take riders through challenging routes in and around Windhoek, showcasing the city's unique terrain. Spectators are encouraged to come out and cheer, as the tour promises fast-paced action and fierce competition.
