The Untold Story of Namibian Football officially came to life , as Ramblers Sport Club hosted the launch of Carlos Kambaekwa's long-awaited book, a project that preserves the legacy of Namibian football since 1910.
In his remarks, author Carlos Kambaekwa reflected on the challenges of compiling the book, saying the journey was far from easy but worth every effort to safeguard the nation's football history.
The project itself was inspired by the late President Hage Geingob, who first encouraged Kambaekwa to put the nation's football story into writing.
While alive, President Geingob often checked in on the progress of the book and even reviewed an early draft, which he praised.
Although he never lived to see the final publication, his vision and support remained a driving force behind its completion.
Reading on behalf of former First Lady Monica Geingos, Nangula Geingos paid tribute to Kambaekwa and recalled the late President Hage Geingob's lifelong passion for football, a love that never waned even during his years in politics.
Former NFA President John Muinjo hailed the launch as a landmark moment for Namibian sport, stressing the importance of documenting the nation's football story.
Muinjo further encouraged Namibians, particularly the youth, to get their hands on the book and draw inspiration from the history it captures.
Kambaekwa expressed his gratitude to all who contributed to making the launch a success, noting the generous gesture of Ramblers Sports Club in offering the venue free of charge.
Priced at N$250, The Untold Story of Namibian Football is now available, preserving the voices and moments that have shaped Namibian football for more than a century.
