Cycling brings joy to all ages, and for the learners at Moreson Special School, it's a favorite activity. However, their school's cycling program, part of the physical education curriculum, was put on hold after the bicycles fell into disrepair.
Today, that changed. The learners' broken bikes were fully repaired and officially handed over in Windhoek.
David Augustu, founder of David Bikes and Repair, spearheaded the initiative. He said it was about giving back to the community and keeping young people active through sport.
"It's always an honor to fix these bikes and for free," Augustu said. "It's good for us.
The students were excited and grateful, saying the restored bikes would allow them to once again enjoy their favorite sport.
"I really like the bikes because it makes me happy," one learner said. "These bikes will keep us fit and active."
Another student added, "At least now we can teach the younger kids."
With their bicycles back in action, the cycling program at Moreson Special School is ready to roll once more.
