Metumo Imene, Phillemon Ngutenaanye's manager, recently attended a WBO Global Title Challenge fight in Tanzania earlier this year.
The fight, hosted in Dar es Salaam, concluded after five rounds with Johani Mujanja from Tanzania being crowned the winner.
This was considered an unfair decision, prompting Ngutenaanye's coach to immediately lodge an appeal.
Metumo mentions: I submitted an appeal to the WBO Control Board. My request for a fight review was accepted. They brought in five international judges from Europe and Australia to review the fight.
After the review, the WBO's resolution was that a rematch should happen.
The current title holder must fight Ngutenaanye in his next match.
metumo says, We're currently waiting for the call from Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, to arrange the rematch. If the fight doesn't happen within 120 days, the belt will be stripped and become vacant, giving Phillemon the first opportunity to challenge for the title.
MTC Salute Boxing Promotions has been negotiating with the WBO and has suggested bringing the fight to Namibia.
However, this won't be easy due to the significant challenges and costs involved.
We'll now wait for their call, and the fight will most likely happen in November.
