The Swapo Party Coordinator for the Omusati Region, Sacky Kayone, has urged party supporters to go out in numbers on the 29th of September to vote for Selma Asino, the party's candidate in the Outapi Constituency by-election.
Asino, currently serving as the Mayor of Outapi Town Council, faces competition from Independent Patriots for Change (IPC) candidate Fillemon Shikwambi, a former Swapo Party Councillor in the same constituency.
Speaking at the Outapi district mini-rally, Kayone emphasised the importance of voting wisely and granting the party another mandate in the constituency.
"Comrade Selma Asino is our Swapo Party candidate for the by-election of the Outapi constituency on the 29th of September 2025, and again she remains the candidate of the Swapo Party for the Outapi Regional Council during the Regional Councils and Local Authorities election on the 26th of November 2025. She is the only candidate for the Swapo Party in Outapi. Nobody else should claim candidacy as a Swapo member; this is our only candidate."
Kayone said the Swapo Party is committed to developing the constituency, let alone the country.
He warned members to guard against intimidation.
Asino, on her part, expressed readiness to lead the constituency.
"The Swapo Party has already crafted the election manifesto; therefore, I pledge to be your representative and accelerate all the programmes outlined in that manifesto."
The by-election is necessitated by the vacancy created when the previous Outapi constituency councillor, Immanuel Shikongo, was appointed Omusati Governor.
There are 3,389 registered voters in the Outapi Constituency.
