Namibian football is back! The Namibia Football Association confirms that the highly anticipated 2025/26 football season will officially kick off, signaling the return of action across the country.

The full Namibian football calendar, including the Premier League, all lower divisions, and the Women's Super League, is set to begin on the 24th of October.

The NFA has also reminded all clubs to submit key administrative requirements, including financial reports, membership renewals, fixtures, and home venue confirmations before the set deadlines.

In an interview with NBC Sport, the Director of Marketing, Communication and Sales at the NFA, Isack Hamata, confirmed the official dates and outlined what still needs to be finalized.

"Yes, I can confirm on behalf of the Football Association that the football season-and I want to clarify, it's the football season, it is not the Premier League season, as many would want to have it understood-the entire football in the country is to start on the 24th of October 2025. Now, for the first match to kick off, there are a number of requirements. Key amongst them all is the registration of players and clubs: players to the clubs, and clubs to the various members that they belong to."

Hamata further elaborated on the responsibilities of clubs ahead of the season kickoff.

"Members of the various leagues, like the Premier League and the Women's Super League, are expected to now provide proof of how they used funding that they received last season. And therefore, also, new members must register, as well as the old members of a particular league. They must all now register, and all of these dates were set. By the 10th of October, all of these submissions must be made. And there are a lot of requirements that especially the Premier League, the Namibia Premier Football League, must adhere to."

Hamata also emphasized that the League has not yet secured a sponsorship.

"No commercial sponsor has come on board yet. You would recall that the Deputy Minister responsible for sports, Honourable Dino Baloti, made a ministerial statement in Parliament two weeks ago about the funding that the government has allocated to the Namibia Football Association to the amount of 10 million, which is in respect of the Namibia Premier Football League."

The NFA has also stressed the importance of registering all players and officials on the FIFA E-Connect platform. Non-compliance, the association warned, may lead to disqualification, withheld funds, or other sanctions.
