Lake Oanab played host to the 2025 Namibia National Open Water Swimming Championships from Saturday to Sunday, with swimmers from across the country diving into action across various age categories and distances.

The event saw strong club representation and standout performances in both the men's and women's divisions.

In the Women's 14-15 1.5km event, Alina Naushika from Dolphins SC produced an impressive swim, clocking 21:03.00 to win comfortably.

She is followed by Garlene Itayi and Zanly Kandume, both also from Dolphins.

Madison Bergh of Aqua Swimming and Fitness Club continues her excellent form, winning the Under 16-17 1.5km category in 21:10.00, while Sascha Naude dominates the 20 & Over 1.5km race with a powerful time of 20:19.00 - the fastest among all female competitors.

In the Men's category, James Lungameni of Dolphins SC tops the 14-15 1.5km race with a strong swim of 21:09.00, edging out teammate Joel Amutenya.

The 16-17 Boys title goes to Phillip Zatjirua in 20:17.00, while Darius Naukushu impresses in the 18-19 age group, finishing in 20:25.00.

The 500m fun race (14 & over) also sees strong participation, with Madison Bergh once again shining in the women's section with a time of 6:45.00, while Lucas Teek clocks 6:30.00 to lead the men.

The championships reflect the continued growth of open water swimming in Namibia, with top talent emerging from clubs such as Aqua, Dolphins, and Marlins, supported by strong times and increasing participation.
