The Environmental Investment Fund (EIF) has approved 26 institutional grants worth more than N$3,7 million, benefiting individuals across various priority sectors.
Of the approved grants, 8 are youth-led projects and 11 are female-led.
This forms part of EIF's commitment to inclusivity, youth empowerment and gender equity in access to funding opportunities.
The grants will support 12 start-ups and 14 existing projects, strengthening livelihoods, enhancing climate change adaptation, promoting sustainable natural resource management, and supporting nature-based entrepreneurship.
In a statement, EIF's Manager for Corporate Communications, Romeo Muyunda, says these initiatives align with Namibia's sustainable development and climate resilience goals.
EIF has allocated approximately N$5 million under its Institutional Grants Facility for the 2025/2026 financial year.
The signing of memoranda of understanding with beneficiaries is ongoing, while efforts continue to ensure broad regional representation, with all regions receiving an average of two funded projects.
The final selection process will continue until the full five million in available grant funding has been allocated, after which all beneficiaries will be announced.
EIF reaffirmed its commitment to transparent and accountable grant management, noting that institutional grants remain a key investment in Namibia's long-term environmental and development priorities.
