In recognition of women's contributions, the Otjiwarongo Military Base, the 4th Artillery Brigade, joined the rest of the world in celebrating International Women's Day.
Women serving in the military continue to make meaningful contributions to society through their dedication to service.
Beyond their military duties, women have an important role in maintaining peace, discipline and security.
Lance Bobadiar Paskalia Kambwale, the Gender Representative for the NDF, said, "Women have shown incredible resilience throughout history. Life might be challenging, but women are equally strong and determined. We should never underestimate the power, courage and determination of a woman. Behind every successful woman is her own hard work, confidence and persistence."
Women in the military also contribute to national development through community initiatives and support humanitarian activities.
The Commander of the 4th Artillery Brigade, Abraham Nghondela, advised women to upgrade themselves through education and discipline and take on new challenges.
"Do not be wheelbarrowed into a position; you must deserve to be there, not just because you are a woman. You want to become a GC; even if you do not qualify to become a GOC, you must deserve it. You must be groomed. You must work through that path until you reach there, but I can assure you on behalf of my fellow colleagues that we are behind you. We will give you all the support you need and give you all that you require to be there."
The event ended with motivational stories and sports activities.
